“Not Give A Fuck” is a song by the Brooklyn rapper Fabolous, and it appeared as the opening track on his second album, Street Dreams, which was released in 2003
Structurally, this is a pretty typical Fabolous song. What I mean by that is it’s filled with plenty of punch lines over a great beat. That’s the Fabolous formula right there, and he has it down to a science
I really wish rap and hip-hop would get back to this sort of sound, but seeing as modern “rappers” are more concerned with popping Xanax and wearing their little sister’s clothes, I highly doubt that’s gonna happen
While on the topic of fashion, lets talk about how ridiculous, yet awesome, rappers in the early 2000s used to dress. The baggy pants, the oversized t-shirts, the lopsided hats that were barely on their heads. So goddamn classic. I mean, just look at Fabolous on this album cover. He’s wearing a giant purple fur coat that kinda looks like something Cruella de Vil from 101 Dalmations would wear. This is going to be a depressing realization, but that coat he’s wearing probably costs more money than I’ve made in the last 6 months at work, and I’m sure most of you are in the same boat
Even though I do love this song and Fabolous in general, I do have some beef with how he spells his name. Substituting U with an O lead to me constantly spelling the word fabulous wrong in middle school. As a matter of fact, it still trips me up to this day. You can’t teach an old dog new tricks I guess
