I’m Officially Bringing Back My “Shuffle Song Of The Day” Blogs

I had a doctors appointment this morning, and while I was waiting in the lobby before it, I overheard something pretty funny. One of the nurses said, “I have a Meatloaf song stuck in my head, and I don’t like it”

Now aside from the fact that there is nothing wrong with having the occasional Meatloaf song stuck in your head, I can’t stop thinking about this quote. At first I thought I couldn’t stop thinking about it just because it was hilarious, which it is, but as the day has gone on I’ve realized there is way more to it than that. Inspiration comes in many forms, and this extremely random, music-related quote sparked something inside of me. After putting it off for a while, I’ve made the executive decision to bring back my Shuffle Song Of The Day blogs

If you have no idea what I’m talking about, let me explain. Back in the early days of Booze Blogs, I did a recurring music blog that I used to post every day called Shuffle Song Of The Day. I highly doubt I’ll be doing it every day this time around, but that’s beside the point. Anyway, the basic premise of these blogs was that I would hit the shuffle button on my music library and then write a blog about whatever random song popped up

I think a big reason why this blog format worked so well for me is because my music library is filled with a lot of different shit. My basic philosophy has always been that if you don’t listen to different kinds of music, you are sort of wasting your ability to hear. That’s why religiously listening to only one genre of music is a foreign concept to me that I’ll never understand, and I take some pride in having a library filled with a lot of variety. If you are somebody that only listens to one genre, you might as well take out a knife and cut your ear off like Vincent Van Gogh did, because that’s basically the same thing as limiting yourself to one style of music

So, that’s basically it. Very short blog, more of an announcement really, but be on the lookout for these Shuffle Song blogs. I plan on posting 1-2 of these a week, and I’m really excited to be bringing these blogs back because I love everything there is about music. I love listening to music, I love talking about music, I love reminding people of songs they haven’t heard in a while, and I especially love showing people new music, and these blogs are a perfect way of doing all of those things
