“Somebody’s Watching Me” is a song by Rockwell, and it appeared as the lead single from his debut self-titled album, which was released in 1984. The album was distributed by the legendary Motown Records, making sense as Rockwell was from Detroit
An international hit in several countries, this song continues to be a Halloween party favorite 39 years later. It also features an extremely recognizable and often sampled synthesizer beat, as well as 2 Jackson brothers (Michael and Jermaine) providing the chorus and additional backing vocals
The music video for this song is fucking awesome, and alongside “Thriller”, used to scare the shit out of me when I was a little kid. I would hear the synth start whenever MTV played it around Halloween when I was little, and I would run for the hills. I’m man enough to admit that
Whenever I get the weird feeling that somebody’s watching me, it’s usually just because I’m high as fuck, and this music video is basically what I look like when I get violently high and start bugging out inside my own house. Maybe that’s why I relate to and like it so much, but even without that, awesome song and music video
