Week 5 of the 2022-23 NFL season came to a close on Monday night with an interesting game at Arrowhead. That game had everything: Terrible officiating (“rOuGhInG tHe PaSsEr”), insane offensive performances by both sides (Kelce with 4 TDs, Adams with 2, Mahomes and Carr both making clutch throws when they needed to), and last but not least, it had coaches getting burned by analytic decisions instead of just playing football

In the end, The Chiefs walked away with a 30-29 win over The Raiders, not covering the 7 point spread I needed them to

However, that was only 1 game out of a 15 game week, so rather than bitch and moan about that game (which I gladly would if the time was granted), let’s take a look at how I did on the rest of the games

When all was said and done, I went 7-9 on straight full game bets, but thankfully hit a nice live bet on Chiefs 2H to somewhat soften the blow. Regardless, when the smoke cleared, it was still a negative week, both record and unit-wise, at 8-9 (excluding my teaser, which I’ll get to later)

Ladies and gentlemen, cue the music:

So what went wrong for me in Week 5? Plenty of things, but there is one thing that jumps out: Primetime Games. I don’t know what it is about this season, but I can’t hit a primetime game to save my life right now. I went 0-3 on them last week, which really hurts because I like to bet more than usual on primetime games to spice things up a bit. TNF, SNF, and MNF have been bending over all season so far, but I’m going 3-0 on them in Week 6 and you heard it here first

The Washington Commanders head to Soldier Field to take on the Chicago Bears, in what will probably be a bad game, but a fun game.
