“We’re At The Top Of The World” is a song by the Pennsylvania rock band The Juliana Theory, and it appeared on their 2000 album, Emotion Is Dead
Although primarily an emo band, especially on this album, this song was their “hit”, and it managed to achieve some radio play and mainstream success, having been used in a few movies and TV shows during that era. That catchy guitar riff and chorus make it a perfect song for day drinking with your friends or cruising around with the windows down on a Summer day. Well, at least that’s the vibe I get from it
I always find it funny when emo bands tone it down a bit and make softer songs like this. Not saying it’s a bad thing, but it’s just funny to me. I imagine them in the studio one day, saying to themselves, “Hey, maybe instead of making a song about a breakup or how much we hate our hometown, let’s make a happy sounding song that sounds like it’s by Sugar Ray”
No matter their reasoning for doing it, I’m glad they did. This song is a certified JAM. We’re at the top of the world folks
