NFL Betting Results (Week 10)

We’re now through 10 full weeks of NFL action, and Week 11 kicks off tonight with what should be a great game between The Cardinals and Seahawks in Seattle. Covid may have ruined 90% of our lives this year, but at least it hasn’t taken football away from us (knock on wood)

If you’ve been following along with my picks this season, I’ve been having a pretty decent showing so far with a record of 73-57-3 heading into Week 10. Was I able to keep the streak going? Let’s take a look at how I did in Week 10

When all was said and done, I went 10-3-1 in Week 10. This is my second best week of the season so far, eclipsed only by Week 6’s 11-3 record. Another positive and profitable week calls for one thing and one thing only: Cue up the Johnny Drama GIF!

So even though I did have a positive week, i didn’t go undefeated, so let’s take a look at some of the games where my bets did not hit

WEEK 10 LOSS RECAPS

TITANS (ML): Week 10 got off to a bad start for me last Thursday when I decided to back The Titans against The Colts. I put my pick in on Wednesday afternoon, and I was very confident in this pick at the time. I think I mentioned it in a past blog, but I like everything Vrabel has done since taking over this Titans team and I think that, similar to Dennis Reynolds, they haven’t even begun to peak. When you combine that bias with the fact that they were set to play a home game against a Colts team that has had pretty below average offense all season and has mainly been scraping by with their defense, I was more than sold on Titans ML and thought they would get the job done. What I wasn’t counting on was a collection of special teams mistakes that killed this bet in such ruthless fashion that it had to be a closed-casket funeral. The Titans kicker (who I refuse to even acknowledge by name) was literally delivering packages for FedEx 2 weeks ago (that isn’t a joke by the way, look it up) and they trotted him out to kick in a real NFL game. First, he shanked a punt from their own end zone 17 yards and gave The Colts an instant red zone opportunity, and they scored. Then, right after, they went 3 and out and the next punt got blocked and returned for a TD. Letting the other team score 14 points on you in a minute during an otherwise close game isn’t ideal, and my only shot at that point was for simultaneous implosions from both Rivers and The Colts defense, but both kept their composure and had great games instead FINAL SCORE: 34-17 COLTS

BROWNS (-3): So this bet technically wasn’t a loss because I pushed, but I want to talk about it anyway because of absurd way that it pushed. If you missed this game, you didn’t miss much. The Browns and Texans somehow combined for 3 points through 3 quarters, which I didn’t even know was possible until this game. Then, both offenses “came to life” in the 4th and both put a touchdown on the board leaving us with a nailbiting score of 10-7 with a minute left in the game. I had all but accepted my push when Nick Chubb broke away for what should have been the game and bet winning TD, but do you wanna know what that asshole did? He purposefully stepped out of bounds at the 1 yard line because life isn’t fair and only bad things happen. Now I’m sure some analytics nerds will push their glasses up on their noses and try to tell you this was the smart football play to make, but fuck that. Going up by 10 with no time left was the right move to make. Even worse was that I had Chubb in a Draft Kings lineup too, so this little maneuver cost me money twice. Not to be dramatic, but I want Chubb arrested for the crimes he committed on that field. Simply unacceptable FINAL SCORE: 10-7 BROWNS

SEAHAWKS (+3): This was one of those bets that I knew was a bad idea and would lose, but I did it anyway. I saw Seahawks getting points and jumped at the opportunity to lose money like the utter fool that I am. My dumb brain keeps thinking The Legion of Boom is still around, and I completely disregard the fact that their current defense STINKS. I don’t know when this happened, but it happened. The Seahawks’ only chance of winning games is for Russ and the offense to be absolutely perfect, and Wilson had an uncharacteristically bad game. He completed under 60% of his passes, and even had 2 picks that came at terrible times. Seahawks continue to struggle and lose me money, but wanna know the worst part? I LOVE Seahawks tonight against The Cardinals lol FINAL SCORE: 23-16 RAMS

RAVENS (-6.5): My final loss of the week is the one that hurt the most. I’m as big of a homer as they come and it’s very rare that I bet against any Boston teams, especially The Patriots seeing as they’ve been dominant for pretty much my entire life. But the way things have been going lately with The Pats, I decided to go with The Ravens in this one, and boy do I regret it. I really wish I checked my local weather before putting this bet in, because I would have chose differently had I known there would be a goddamn monsoon at Gillette during the game. Shitty weather at Gillette screams Patriots upset, but my dumb ass was too stupid to check the weather and identify the advantage here. This loss also ruined my weekly teaser, which I’ll talk about next FINAL SCORE: 23-17 PATRIOTS

Lastly, and most depressingly, let’s review my Why Not Teaser for Week 10. I jokingly said last week that I should change the name of this to the Why Even Bother Teaser, and after this last loss, I really might have to. Here was my Why Not Teaser for Week 10

-Jaguars +21.5✅

-Bills +9.5✅

-Seahawks +9✅

-Ravens -.5❌🤬❌🤬❌🤬

Fuck, and I cannot emphasize this enough, that Pats/Ravens game. But like I said above, that’s what I get for going against Belichick and The Pats during a home game played in inclement weather in November. The outcome was so obvious, and I have nobody to blame but myself

And that’s that. Another great week, and I’m looking forward to hopefully getting off to a good start on Week 11 tonight. I should be posting tonight’s play on Twitter in about an hour or so, but I already alluded to it in this blog during the loss recaps 👀
