If you’ve been following along with these blogs, then you know I had my worst week of the season in Week 8, so I was pretty eager to get back out there and make some money back. Was I able to do it? Let’s take a look at how I did in Week 9

When all was said and done, I went 8-6 in Week 9. Nothing amazing, but still a positive week so I can’t complain. Cue the Drama GIF!

Even though I did have a positive week, I still had 6 duds, so let’s take a closer look at those games where my bets didn’t hit in Week 9

WEEK 9 LOSS RECAPS

CHIEFS (-9.5): This game shocked a lot of people, and rightfully so. Star running back Christian McCaffrey returned to the field after being out for weeks with that high ankle sprain, which was obviously huge for The Panthers’ offense. But as dynamic of a player as CMC is, I don’t think anybody expected The Panthers to go toe-to-toe with The Chiefs the way that they did in this game. Hell, The Panthers went into halftime with the lead! Now obviously Mahomes and company were able to get their shit together in the second half, but The Panthers kept the pressure on and realistically should have won this game. Since my bet was dead anyway, I really wanted Slye to nail that field goal at the end for the W. FINAL SCORE: 33-31 Chiefs

BRONCOS (+4): Do I even need to explain why this bet lost? Week after week I tell you guys that The Falcons are my kryptonite and exist solely to lose me money, and week after week my prophecy comes true. This bet was over before the game even started, and it definitely seemed over for about 90% of the game because Drew Lock and the Broncos defense both suck impressive levels of ass. But just to taunt me and make it sting that much worse, the Broncos scored 21 points in the 4th quarter and kept my backdoor cover hopes alive. But it was too little too late, and they couldn’t get within 4. FINAL SCORE: 34-27 Falcons

SEAHAWKS (-2.5): My 3rd loss of the week was in this high scoring matchup between 2 playoff teams. First of all, I love everything Josh Allen and The Bills have been doing this year. Not as a Pats fan, because they’re in our division, but just as a football fan in general. Still, I find it really hard to go against Russ and The Seahawks offense because when they’re on, they’re on. However, the Achilles Heel for Seattle this year has been their defense, and The Bills were able to expose every weakness they had there and ran up the score so high that even The Seahawks offense couldn’t keep up. FINAL SCORE: 44-34 Bills

STEELERS (-13): What—and I cannot stress this enough—the fuck happened in this game? The undefeated Steelers found themselves with a seemingly advantageous matchup against an injury-riddled 2-6 Cowboys team that had their 4th string QB starting, yet somehow, they almost lost. Dem Boyz had the lead at halftime, and they even found themselves up 19-9 heading into the 4th quarter. But then The Cowboys pulled an Atlanta Falcons and had a brutal 4th quarter collapse, wherein The Steelers scored 15 unanswered points and came away with the victory. Even though they did make the comeback, it wasn’t nearly enough to cover the huge 13 point spread, which sort of makes me wish The Cowboys did win this game and ended The Steelers perfect season. FINAL SCORE: 24-19 Steelers

BUCS (-4): I’m starting to really hate The Bucs man, I really am. On paper, this had all the makings of a great, high-scoring Sunday Night Football game. Instead, only The Saints showed up to play and I ended up on the wrong side of an absolute ass-kicking. As a Pats fan, this was the worst game I’ve ever seen Tom Brady play, but it wasn’t just his fault. The Bucs defense couldn’t get a stop if their lives depended on it, and there were some key drops that could have changed things a little bit (Gronk had a bad one in the end zone). The Bucs somehow didn’t score a touchdown in this, and their only points to avoid the shutout came from a field goal when they were down huge. Yikes. This makes back to back weeks where The Bucs have burned me bad, so I might have to start fading them. FINAL SCORE: 38-3 Saints

PATRIOTS (-7): The Patriots are not fun to watch for the first time in my entire life, and I’m not looking forward to this being the likely future of this team for a little while. Anyway, this game sucked. Yeah we won, but that’s just because The Jets are the Jets and let us win. It doesn’t change the fact that The Patriots defense gave up huge plays and made Flacco look like he did in the 2012-13 Playoffs. Our secondary gave up big plays to Perriman on the outside, and that effort is not gonna cut it against good teams, especially when our offense struggling the way that it is. I knew Jets with the free touchdown was the right move, but the homer Pats fan in me wouldn’t let me do it. FINAL SCORE: 30-27 Pats

Lastly, let’s get to my Why Not Teaser from last week. This may come as a shock to you all, but this did not hit yet again. Here was my teaser:

-Ravens +7✅

-Chiefs -4❌

-Steelers -8.5❌

I weirdly find solace in the fact that both The Chiefs and Steelers had awful games and ruined this teaser, because if only one of them did, I’d be a lot more mad. This marks another week of my Why Not Teaser losing, so I might have to change this to the Why Even Bother Teaser moving forward

And that’s that. My 8-6 record from Week 9 moves my record for the year to 73-57-3 now, and I’m thrilled. This was a great bounce-back from Week 8, where I went negative, and hopefully I can keep it going with another positive showing in Week 10
