Shuffle Song Of The Day (1/21/19): “Can’t Feel My Face” By The Weeknd

“Can’t Feel My Face” is a song by Toronto native The Weeknd that appears on his 2015 album Beauty Behind The Madness. It has the sound and lyrics of what seems like a love song, and I guess in a way it is, but he’s not talking about a girl. The “girl” he’s talking about is good old fashioned cocaine, and boy is he in love with it. Some people still dispute this when I say it, especially my girl friends, but it’s 100% true. I mean, “I can’t feel my face”? That has coked about written all over it, and we all know that cocaine and the weekend go hand in hand. The only other possible explanation is that he was out shoveling today like I was, because let me tell ya I couldn’t feel my face after 5 minutes. You see, it’s freezing in Boston right now, and being the lazy dumbass that I am, I elected to not clear off my steps yesterday and allowed it to freeze over today. As a result of this I ended up eating shit and descending down my stairs like a slinky this morning, which I must admit woke me up more efficiently than any cup of coffee would, so I guess thank you ice. You woke my ass up. Literally.

LYRICS

And I know she’ll be the death of me, at least we’ll both be numb
And she’ll always get the best of me, the worst is yet to come

But at least we’ll both be beautiful and stay forever young
This I know, yeah, this I know
She told me, don’t worry about it
She told me, don’t worry no more
We both know we can’t go without it

She told me you’ll never be in love, oh, oh, woo
I can’t feel my face when I’m with you
But I love it, but I love it, oh
I can’t feel my face when I’m with you
But I love it, but I love it, oh
And I know she’ll be the death of me, at least we’ll both be numb
And she’ll always get the best of me, the worst is yet to come
All the misery was necessary when we’re deep in love
This I know, girl, I know
She told me, don’t worry about it
She told me, don’t worry no more
We both know we can’t go without it
She told me you’ll never be in love, oh, oh, woo
I can’t feel my face when I’m with you
But I love it, but I love it, oh
I can’t feel my face (I can’t feel nothing) when I’m with you
But I love it, (but I love it) but I love it, oh
I can’t feel my face when I’m with you
But I love it, (but I love it) but I love it, (but I love it) oh
I can’t feel my face when I’m with you
But I love it, (but I love it) but I love it, (but I love it) oh
She told me, don’t worry about it
She told me, don’t worry no more
We both know we can’t go without it
She told me you’ll never be in love, oh, oh, woo
I can’t feel my face when I’m with you (I can’t feel my face)
But I love it, (but I love it) but I love it (oh I love it) oh
I can’t feel my face when I’m with you (said I can’t feel my face)
But I love it, (but I love it) but I love it oh
I can’t feel my face when I’m with you (face, when I’m with you)
But I love it (but I love it) but I love it, don’t you think I can’t
I can’t feel my face when I’m with you (I can’t feel my face)
But I love it, (when I’m with you baby) but I love it, (when I’m with you baby)
I can’t feel my fa-
