I’m Sick Of Colin Kaepernick

I started writing this blog yesterday but then it hit me that it was Labor Day, and the entire point of Labor Day is to sit on your ass and not work. Now I know blogging isn’t exactly work per se, but nevertheless I decided to drink day beers and bet on baseball instead of blogging. Anyway, the name of the day yesterday was Colin Kaepernick, remember him? He’s that sub par quarterback who is no longer in the NFL due to shitty play, asking for way too high of a salary, and for bringing a misguided political movement into a game that should only be about concussions and touchdowns. I’ve already laid out my views on why kneeling during The National Anthem is moronic and why the NFL has a right to punish players who do, which can be read here if you want to know my stance (https://boozeblogs.com/2018/05/25/my-thoughts-on-the-nfls-new-anthem-policy/) The unfortunate reason why this has been’s name is back in the headlines is because he just struck gold by signing a new deal with Nike. Nike’s iconic slogan “Just Do It” turns 30 this year, and they’ve decided to make Colin Kaepernick the face of their new ad campaign. Here’s the first look that Nike gave the public yesterday of what these ads will likely center around.

Wow. Very inspiring. It takes a lot of physical and mental fortitude to kneel during The National Anthem, so I can definitely see why Nike picked him to be their hero. Reading through my obvious sarcasm there, I’ve never understood why the media turned this idiot into some type of martyr in the first place. For starters, his new deal with Nike is worth millions of dollars. Seeing as that is worth more than me, you and everybody we know will likely accumulate in our lifetimes, why the fuck should we feel bad for him? He was a below average QB that just fell ass backwards into a small fortune, so people need to cool their jets when it comes to acting like this guy needs our sympathy for “sacrificing everything” when he basically just won the lottery

And what did he sacrifice exactly, and for what? Let’s all remember that he brought all of this on himself when he decided to assume a blowjob position before games and called it a protest. He did this to protest police brutality and systemic racism in America, but nowadays it seems like nobody even knows why they’re kneeling because they’re just doing it to do it. I find it funny that they’re protesting the very thing that gives them the freedom to do so. America is so racist and evil for providing these athletes with opportunities and freedoms that people in other parts would die for, and some literally do die for under authoritarian rule. So if you wanna be a self-loathing traitor who hates living in the best country in the world by kneeling during The Anthem that’s your business, but atleast know that the irony of doing so is so thick you could cut it with a knife. And for anybody that doesn’t think this kneeling stuff is also an anti-police movement, let’s took a look at his socks here that depicts a cop in the derogatory pig form

Speaking of ex-NFL players, let’s talk about Pat Tillman for a second. He was a safety for the Arizona Cardinals and decided to enlist in the Army in 2002 in response to the 9/11 attacks. He became an Army Ranger and was deployed to Afghanistan, where he ultimately was killed in action in 2004. Now that is what a hero does. That is what it means to sacrifice everything because of your beliefs. Kneeling during The National Anthem, a song that celebrates the country that gave you the opportunity to play a game for millions of dollars, does not make you a hero. In a perfect world, the Nike ad should look like this, but our world isn’t perfect.

It was Kaepernick’s below average performance that got him benched in the first place, and then he used this kneeling movement as a way of staying relevant. He then opted out of his contract with The 49ers and became a free agent, overconfidently thinking he would get picked up by another team. Safe to say a lot of the other owners weren’t that interested in what Kaepernick could bring to their teams, and since nobody wants a guy that throws interceptions and brings a political circus everywhere he goes, he remains rightly unsigned to this day. Kaepernick is also in the process of suing the NFL by claiming that he’s being unfairly barred from the league. This is the equivalent of a mom suing a school district because her son got cut from the team. He claims the owners are colluding to keep him out of the league because they’re racists. That’s funny, seeing as the league is 99% black. If they were so racist, why aren’t the hundreds of other black athletes having any trouble getting contracts? Maybe, just maybe, this has nothing to do with racism, and Kaepernick isn’t in the league anymore because he sucks, owners don’t like him, and they are allowed to sign or not sign whoever they want. Isn’t that what this whole movement is supposedly about? Freedom of choice and expression? Kaepernick has the right to bitch and pout, and team owners have the right to dislike and not sign him. Ah freedom, what a concept!

Colin Kaepernick grew up living a privileged life with an adopted white family in the suburbs, so he can shut the fuck up with all this “woe is me” crap. He went to the best schools and had everything handed to him on a silver platter, so I highly doubt he experienced any of this injustice that he’s always talking about. He had his chance in the league and he blew it, and just like Hillary Clinton, his name should just slowly fade away from our dialect. The thing that grinds my gears the most about all this is that there are thousands of other athletes that have actual rags to riches stories that would be better fit for this ad campaign. They’ve faced actual hardships and had to make sacrifices to get where they are, but hey, that’s Nike’s choice to make and that’s why this country is so great. If Nike wants to give Kaepernick millions of dollars to sell their shoes that’s their business, and quite frankly it might work out in their favor. I’ve seen a lot of people boycotting or whatever but that’s just as stupid kneeling for the anthem in my eyes. You already bought the Nike products, so what good does burning them do? Anyway, to wrap this all up: Kneeling for the anthem is stupid, and Colin Kaepernick deserves all of the negatives and positives that have come his way through this whole debacle. Anybody who feels bad for him: Don’t. He’s just some guy that secured millions of dollars because he took a knee and that’s it. He doesn’t care about you so why should you care about him? He also said Fidel Castro was a great person with good ideas, so let’s stop putting him on a pedestal as our supreme moral leader because in reality he’s about as intelligent as a concussed mosquito. I really didn’t even wanna write this because he’s not even worth the finger movements on my keyboard, but with everybody praising him like a God lately I had no choice. Just get me to football season already and let’s hope everybody stops talking about this loser while he embarks on his new career as Al Bundy’s apprentice

PS: The real heroes making the sacrifice here are the Asian sweatshop workers that make Nike’s shoes for 5 cents an hours, but that’s a topic for another day

    • Couldn’t agree more. I’m 22 and I hope I can give you some hope that we aren’t all like that, there’s way more of us that are normal, know there are 2 genders, respect police and soldiers, and think anybody who doesn’t can fuck off
