“The Popcorn Song” is a synth-pop song by Gershon Kingsley that was released on his 1969 album Music To Moog Too. Given that it was recorded in 1969, it’s among the first, if not the first, to make use of a synthesizer in this way. It’s considered by many to technically be the first ever EDM song ever given its popularity on the radio when it was first released. There’s just something about this song that I find so fascinating but I just can’t describe it. It kinda makes me feel like I’m eating cotton candy at a carnival while I wait in line for the bumper cars or some shit like that. Just a very strange vibe and catchiness to it that has transcended time and is still awesome 49 years later. The title has me craving some popcorn right now and unfortunately I don’t have any, so damn you Gershon for doing this to me.
