Shuffle Song Of The Day (5/30/18): “Ceremony” By New Order

“Ceremony” is a song by the British new wave band New Order that was released in 1981. The song is technically by Joy Division, but after the suicide of lead singer Ian Curtis in 1980, the remaining members formed New Order and released this as one of their first singles under the new name. This, along with “In A Lonely Place”, were the last songs Ian wrote. I find it very strange that the song “In A Lonely Place” didn’t tip off the other band members that he was going through some shit. Joy Division was a great band that unfortunately came to an abrupt end, but thankfully they picked up right away with another great band that was just as good, albeit with a completely different style. Rest In Peace

This is why events unnerve me

They find it all, a different story

Notice whom for wheels are turning

Turn again and turn towards this time

All she asks is the strength to hold me

Then again the same old story

World will travel, oh so quickly

Travel first and lean towards this time

I’ll break them down, no mercy shown

Heaven knows, it’s got to be this time

Watching her, these things she said

The times she cried

Too frail to wake this time

Avenues all lined with trees

Picture me and then you start watching

Watching forever

Watching love grow, forever

Letting me know, forever
