Shuffle Song Of The Day (4/30/18): “Brass Monkey” By Beastie Boys

“Brass Monkey” is a song by Beastie Boys from their 1986 debut album Licensed To Ill. I feel like Beastie Boys doesn’t get the credit they deserve for being pioneers in both rap and rock. 3 punks from Brooklyn, who were only in their early twenties, changed music with the release of Licensed To Ill. Not to mention they introduced the world to the classic beverage that is a brass monkey. Technically there are many different recipes for a brass, but the one they’re referring to is the only one that matters. A real brass monkey is when you pour orange juice into a 40 oz., preferably Olde English, and it’s a great way to get fucked up. Drinking a brass monkey on a hot summer day while sitting on a stoop is a great way to pass the time, so shoutout to Mike D, MCA (RIP), and Ad-Rock for popularizing this delicious concoction.

Coolin’ by the lockers getting kind of funky, Me and the crew we’re drinking Brass Monkey

Went over to the girl, “Yo baby, what’s up?”, I offered her a sip, the girl she gave me lip, It did begin, the stuff wore in and now she’s on my tip

We got the bottle, you got the cup, Come on everybody let’s get fff
