Shuffle Song Of The Day (4/17/18): “Talk To Frank” By Virus Syndicate

“Talk To Frank” is song by the UK grime collective Virus Syndicate that was released as a single in 2009. Grime is basically a combination of rap and dubstep, and it became popular in London during the early 2000’s.  This song is all about doing and selling drugs, so it’s right up my alley based on that alone. Although I’m not too into grime overall, some of it is really good. The themes of drug use over cool dubstep beats is something I can definitely get down with, but one problem I have is the accents. A lot of grime artists have really thick British accents, and I can’t even understand what they’re saying half the time because they’re rapping so fast. It isn’t that big of a deal because the songs usually still sound good, but they’d be a lot better if I knew what was happening. Either way, grime is really good music to get fucked up to, so for that reason it’s okay in my book.

Favorite Lyric(s)

I’m no victim or martyr, I’m a hustla baby like S dot Carter

You can say no, you don’t have to get high it’s cool,
But I’ve got flake, blues, MDMA and Peruvian nasal fuel

I’ll sell em magic,
I’ll sell em coke,
I’ll sell em anything right down from crack to dope

It’s Friday night and I’m ready for the mad shit,
One gram coke, one gram magic,
Time for me to get wasted,
Have a sip of this yo, taste it,
Saturday night and I’m on it again,
More drink, more drugs, more chronic again,
Time for me to get wasted,
Have a sip of this yo, taste it
