Shuffle Song Of The Day (3/30/18): “Dig” By Incubus

“Dig” is a song by the band Incubus from their 2006 album Light Grenades. Light Grenades reached Number 1 during the week it was released, but then experienced a record breaking drop as it fell to number 37 the following week. That record has since been broken, but it remains the 3rd largest drop in album sales ever. I think we can all agree that light grenades are much better than heavier ones, because trying to throw a heavy grenade sounds like a good way to blow yourself up like a muslim terrorist. Or maybe light grenades is supposed to mean grenades that explode with giant beams of light. That makes more sense now that I look at the album cover, but in that case, everybody would probably go blind. Anyway, back to the song. Incubus has a lot of great songs that received a decent amount of radio play in the 2000’s, but this is probably my favorite. In typical Incubus fashion, the song has great lyrics accompanied with great guitar work. I definitely prefer an incubus over a succubus, and I’m sure most guys can agree with me on that because we’ve all lost a friend or two to a succubus over years. If one of your friends is pussy whipped by a succubus, do them a favor and stage an intervention before she sinks her claws into him and convinces him to marry her like an idiot.

Favorite Lyric(s)

We all have a weakness,
But some of ours are easier to identify

We all have something that digs at us,
at least we dig each other,
So when weakness turns my ego up,
I know you’ll count on the me from yesterday

If I turn into another,
Dig me up from under what is covering the better part of me,
Sing this song,
Remind me that we’ll always have each other,
when everything else is gone

We all have a sickness,
that cleverly attaches and multiplies,
No matter how we try

So when sickness turns my ego up,
I know you’ll act as a clever medicine
