Shuffle Song Of The Day (3/21/18): “Children Of The World” By Big K.R.I.T.

“Children of the World” is song by rapper Big K.R.I.T. off of his 2010 debut album K.R.I.T. Wuz Here. Big K.R.I.T. is one of those names that doesn’t get brought up nearly enough, but anybody who really knows rap respects him. He offers up a perfect combination of southern style rap mixed with some intelligent lyrics, and he deserves to be talked about in the same conversation as names like Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole. Society is kinda weird with who we decide to make popular rappers and who we don’t. There’s a decent amount of good rap out there that nobody knows about, and for some reason the radio just keeps playing that mumble rap shit that sounds like somebody having a codeine-induced seizure in front of a microphone (Which they probably are). Do yourself a favor and listen to some underground stuff like this before declaring rap dead. K.R.I.T. stands for “King Remembered In Time”, and he will undoubtedly go down as just that.

Favorite Lyric(s)

“And they wonder why we bang,
Cause police do the same, that’s the only rival gang”

“Plus college ain’t me, sitting in the class,
Questions rushing in my brain but I’m too proud to ask”

“What good is a degree is there’s no job to apply?, and fast food won’t cut it cuz you’re overqualified

“I’m pretty sure my first words were “survival”,
Looking for the answers to my problems in the Bible,
Cause we just try and decode all the secrets,
My conversations with God always seem leave him speechless”
